Cappadona Beefmasters is a proud continuation of a legacy rooted in South Texas ranching heritage. It all began in 1970, when J.M. & Josefa Castellano purchased Castellano Ranch in Linn San-Manuel. Known for its vast open land, J.M. pioneered the region by fencing pastures and experimenting with various cattle breeds before settling on Beefmasters for their resilience and performance in this semi-arid climate.

In 1980, Castellano began transitioning his commercial herd to registered Beefmasters through the Beefmaster Breeders United. This multi-generational process created a herd known for consistency, quality, and performance. The 1C and 2C brands marked generations of upgraded genetics that were eventually classified as purebred registered Beefmasters.

In 2008, J.M. passed a portion of his prized herd to his sons-in-law, including Fred J. Cappadona, Jr., who had spent years helping manage the cattle operation. With a deep respect for tradition and a dedication to preserving the breed's integrity, Fred launched Cappadona Beefmasters to carry the legacy forward.

Today, Cappadona Beefmasters is one of the premier breeders in the Rio Grande Valley. Their herd has received numerous honors, including awards at the E-6 Sale and the RGV Beef Improvement Association for outstanding performance in heifer and bull development programs. The current herd consists of direct descendants of the original Castellano Beefmasters—unchanged, unblended, and true to their roots.
