Mesquite flour dog biscuits (inspired by various sources)
Ingredients
- 1 cup mesquite flour
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour (or substitute with other dog-safe flours like almond
or chickpea flour)
- ½ cup ground oatmeal (optional, for added texture and nutrition)
- 2 tablespoons peanut butter (ensure it does not contain xylitol)
- ½ cup water, plus more if needed
- 1 egg
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F .
2. Combine mesquite flour, all-purpose flour (or chosen substitute), and ground
oatmeal (if using) in a large bowl.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together peanut butter, water, and egg.
4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix well, adding more water
if needed until a stiff dough forms.
5. Roll out the dough to about ¼ inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
6. Use cookie cutters to create desired shapes.
7. Place biscuits on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
8. Bake for approximately 22 minutes or until golden brown and firm.
9. Turn off the oven and let the biscuits cool inside for extra crunch.
