Mesquite harvest around the corner.

Mesquite harvest around the corner.

Everything is G R E E N! I just love it! A small front blew in and I had to go outside and enjoy the weather and the view of the endless ocean of mesquite trees that will soon be ready to harvest. Many ranchers here in Rio Grande Valley think of the mesquite tree as a weed when they rely on hay for their cows to eat. The funny thing is during a drought, many may have a change of heart. None the less, when harvest time comes around many of the local wild animals look forward to the sweet taste and nourishment of the mesquite bean pod and I will be looking forward to making jelly and mesquite bean tea to sell and enjoy!
